One of the definitions of Meditation says that "Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth".
Personally I think it's much more than that.
I think meditation is the act of reconnecting with one's self. It's an act of coming back to the source, an act of becoming one with the Universe or, as some call it, God.
Saint Padre Pio once said: "Through the study of books one seeks God; by meditation one finds him" Meditation is a connection between all races, religions and backgrounds. You can practice it irrespective of where you're from, what you believe in or which God (if any) you have chosen to worship.
Buddha was once asked "What have you gained from meditation?" He replied, "Nothing!" "However", Buddha said, "Let me tell you what I lost: Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Insecurity, Fear of Old Age and Death."
Meditation can reduce stress, increase energy, provide a sense of peace and balance. It can increase blood flow and slow down the heart rate. It can even help reverse heart diseases! Meditation can enhance the body's immune system, reduce pain and help control thoughts. Through meditation you can get answers to your questions, find guidance or just realize that you didn't need guidance in the first place.
Meditation helps understand that you already have all the answers inside of you. And finally - meditation helps understanding maybe the most important thing of all. That we are all connected. In meditation there are no borders, there is no you and me. There is only the universe, love, peace and oneness with all of creation.
In meditation there is the ultimate understanding - if only more people could feel it. This is the purpose of this website.
Love and Light to you!
